CSNO Health Services Data Project
Deadline: June 30th 2023

Dear California School Nurses,
You are invited to participate in the inaugural CSNO Health Services Data Collection project. We hope you will take part!

The site linked above contains all necessary data collection worksheets and links to the actual online surveys. The information is brief, but important, so please read it carefully. Data from the 22-23 school year are being collected.

There are TWO surveys, each asking different questions about aspects of Health Services provision in your district. Depending on your current data collection process (which may be extensive or non-existent), this process might take 30-90 +/- minutes. We understand that you are very busy and that this is asking a lot of you at the end of what was an already busy school year. But, please consider that this investment in time and effort will be worth it as it can help School Nurses in California better understand the current status of and needs in school health services, which can be used to inform the development of programs and access to resources. This data collection process will occur annually.

If you have any questions about this survey or the questions on the survey, please contact Rachel McClanahan, DNP, RN, NCSN, CNE - CSNO School Nurse Educators Specialty Practice Committee Chair and Associate Professor and Coordinator, School Nurse Services Credential Program, California State University, Fullerton, at [email protected].

Thank you for your participation!

AAP Policy Statement on Off-Label Medication Use

The American Academy of Pediatrics has a position statement on the use of off-label medication use with children. The purpose of off-label use is to benefit the individual patient. Practitioners use their professional judgment to determine these uses. As such, the term “off-label” does not imply an improper, illegal, contraindicated, or investigational use. Therapeutic decision-making must always rely on the best available evidence and the importance of the benefit for the individual patient.
