CSNO Research/Publication Award-Due December 15

The California School Nurses Organization (CSNO) offers a Research/Publication Award to individuals completing research in the field of School Nursing and/or have published articles about school nursing in a professional magazine or journal.  Promotion of research and published work is important to our practice and contributes greatly to our profession.  In addition, it can give a special visibility to school nursing not usually seen by the general public.  One award of $500.00 will be given annually. The recipients must be members of the California School Nurses Organization at the time of the application.  All submissions must be postmarked on or before December 15.

Application information in general for both awards:

  • Complete application below
  • 200 word abstract-summary of your goal in writing the article and why this is important
  • For the news release, a summary of the applicant's background, qualifications and any CSNO activities must be includes.  This will not be included in the judging
  • Photograph for the news release-must be electronic jpg. (if you are selected as a winner)

Application Criteria for Research Award:

Research proposal including:

  1. Problem statement/history of problem
  2. Rationale for study/hypothesis
  3. Methodology
  4. Data analysis
  5. Summary/discussion of results
  6. Significance/application to the practice of School Nursing
  7. Manuscript should be electronically mailed to CSNO Awards & Scholarship Chair with one hard copy mailed by post

Tool(s) used to gather data to accompany application, if applicabe (ie.; survey, Quick Neurological Screening Test, etc.)  Please include in proposal.

Application Criteria for Published Article Related to School Nursing:

  • Copy/scan of complete published work as printed in journal or magazine showing your name as author including references electronically mailed to CSNO Awards & Scholarship Chair with one hard copy mailed.
  • Reference to the published article should be cited and acknowledgement given to the original source of any copyrighted material in the article. (Due to copyright laws submitted article will be reviewed, but not reprinted into any published work).
  • Award Presentation:  The award recipient will be recognized at the CSNO Annual Conference.  All applicants will be notified in January and the details of the presentation at the conference will be discussed at that time.
